Day 1: Kigali Rwanda-Volcanoes National Park

We will meet you on arrival at Kigali International Airport (please note that you must land during daytime). Embark on a drive to Musanze, located near Volcanoes National Park. The journey to Musanze will take you through rolling hills with great views of the rural landscape and plantations. Dinner and overnight stay in Musanze at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in  Volcanoes National Park

Today is your big day. The gorilla trekking starts at 8:00 am with a briefing by park officials. Do not forget to pack your lunch box along with a rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots, etc, before heading out.

Your tour guide will lead you inside the jungle to see the group of shy primates that you have been assigned. The rare mountain gorilla is perhaps one of the most interesting wild animal to behold, not just because it can only be found in a few places on earth but also because it is one of man’s closest relative.

Finding your assigned group can take anywhere from two to six hours. Although walking through the forest for hours can be exhausting, observing a group of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is well worth the effort.

Next on today’s itinerary is a visit to the Ibyi’ Iwacu Cultural Village where you will get the chance to learn more about the history and culture of Rwanda, ranging from its kings to traditions surrounding marriage and food (beer making and local herbs, to mention but a few).

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park-Kigali Rwanda

Leave the national park behind and embark on a drive back to Kigali after an early morning breakfast. You may have an early lunch en-route. Time permitting, you can visit the genocide memorial center in the capital city (optional) before being transferred to Kigali airport for your flight home.
